Irrigated Corn Response to Long-Term Nitrogen and Phosphorus Fertilization
نویسندگان
چکیده
Long-term research shows that phosphorus (P) and nitrogen (N) fertilizer must be applied to optimize production of irrigated corn in western Kansas. In 2020, N alone increased yields by 85 bu/a, whereas P 10 bu/a. Nitrogen together up 136 bu/a which is 11 less than the 10-year average 147 The application 120 lb N/a (with highest rate) produced 98% maximum yield greater (2011–2020). 80 instead 40 P2O5/a 1 grain content reached a 0.6 lb/bu while 0.15 (0.34 P2O5/bu). At rate, apparent recovery (AFNRg) was 43% (AFPRg) 63%. fertilization soil organic matter decreased pH. Phosphorus at lb/a P2O5 not sufficient maintain test levels.

متن کاملLong-Term Effects of Nitrogen Management Practices on Grain Yield, Nitrogen Uptake, and Efficiency in Irrigated Corn
Crop management strategies that improve Nitrogen Use Efficiency (NUE) increase profits while reducing the detrimental effects on the environment associated with fertilizer nitrogen (N) loss. Effective N management should include several critical factors that are very interrelated. A study was conducted at the Panhandle Research and Extension Center, Goodwell, OK to evaluate the effects of multi...
متن کاملGrowth, Yield and Nitrate Accumulation of Irrigated Carrot and Okra in Response to Nitrogen Fertilization
A randomized block experiment conducted on Sultanpur silt loam evaluated the N effects on growth and nitrate accumulation of okra (Hibiscus esculents L. cv. Sabz pari) and carrot (Daucus carota L. cv. T29). Treatments consisted of a control, 100, 150 and 200 kg N ha. Significantly higher yields of carrot and okra were recorded at 150 kg N ha. Nitrate concentration in both increased (> 35 to 200...
متن کاملSimulating long-term and residual effects of nitrogen fertilization on corn yields, soil carbon sequestration, and soil nitrogen dynamics.
Soil carbon sequestration (SCS) has the potential to attenuate increasing atmospheric CO2 and mitigate greenhouse warming. Understanding of this potential can be assisted by the use of simulation models. We evaluated the ability of the EPIC model to simulate corn (Zea mays L.) yields and soil organic carbon (SOC) at Arlington, WI, during 1958-1991. Corn was grown continuously on a Typic Argiudo...
